Pet Immunity

Pet immunity is a feature in modern motion sensors that prevents false alarms triggered by pets moving within a secured area.

What is Pet Immunity?

Pet immunity is a security technology integrated into motion sensors, designed to differentiate between human intruders and pets. This feature ensures that pets, typically weighing under a specific threshold (such as 50 pounds), do not trigger false alarms when they move around a monitored space.

Pet immunity is particularly useful in homes with animals, as it enhances the effectiveness of alarm systems by reducing the frequency of unnecessary notifications. The motion sensors achieve this by using algorithms or dual-sensing technologies, such as infrared and microwave detection, to evaluate the size, weight, and movement patterns of objects within their detection zones.

For example, in a home equipped with a pet-immune motion detector, a dog roaming the living room won’t cause the alarm to activate. However, if a person enters the same area, the system will recognize the difference and alert the homeowner or monitoring service.

This feature is vital for maintaining a balance between security and convenience, allowing pet owners to arm their systems without worrying about false alarms caused by their furry companions.
