Entry/Exit Zone

Entry/Exit Zone refers to the designated areas in a security system where delayed alarms allow authorized access or departure before triggering.

What is Entry/Exit Zone?

Entry/Exit Zone is a term used in security systems to define specific areas where alarm triggers are intentionally delayed. These zones are typically located at main entrances or exits of a property, allowing users to arm or disarm the system when entering or leaving without immediately triggering an alarm.

When a security system is armed, the entry/exit zones provide a grace period, often referred to as an “entry delay” or “exit delay.” This delay allows users to input their access codes or follow designated protocols without setting off the alarm. For instance, a homeowner entering through the front door may have 30 seconds to disarm the system using the control panel.

In business and vacation rental properties, entry/exit zones are crucial for operational efficiency. Authorized personnel, staff, or renters can use the set delay to enter or leave the premises without causing disruptions, provided they have proper access credentials. Entry/exit zones are commonly integrated with smart locks, access control systems, and mobile apps for seamless management.

Security systems typically use motion sensors, door/window contacts, or other smart devices to monitor these zones. Proper configuration of entry/exit zones is essential to avoid false alarms and ensure that unauthorized access is promptly detected.
